Hi neighbors,
It’s that time of the year again. We will be gathering on Tues. evening (6pm-7:30pm), August 3rd for our National Night Out Dessert Social. June G. at 3 Wilson Street will be hosting us this year (Thanks June!). We will gather on her front lawn. Please bring a dessert to share and a chair. The Methuen Police will be present accompanied by some characters in costume for the kids (maybe McGruff the Crime Dog).
National Night Out is a national effort to “promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation”.
I also want to inform you that I have been in touch with the Mayor’s office about the Glen Forest Dry Cleaners & the All America Gas Station. Here are the updates:
Glen Forest Dry Cleaners: It turns out that the Home Health Care company (located next to the Dry Cleaners) has put in an offer to purchase the Glen Forest Dry Cleaners’ property. A 21E environmental test is underway and they are awaiting the results. Depending on the results, the purchase and sale could take place soon. If an expensive environmental cleanup is necessary, the purchase and sale may fall through. The owner of the Home Health is considering creating a parking lot or maybe even erecting a new building to expand the business.
All American Gas Station: Several years ago, the Eagle-Trubune reported that All American Gas Station had not finished cleaning up an underground oil leak that had occurred under the previous owners of their property. I learned this past week that their cleanup has progressed and they are currently in Phase 4 (out of 5) of their cleanup effort. The City feels they are doing what they need to be doing to clean it up. The City has been monitoring this situation.
See you all on Aug. 3rd at 3 Wilson Street….
